Streetwise Paris Map - Laminated City Center Street Map of Paris, France (Michelin Streetwise Maps)
Streetwise Paris Map - Laminated City Center Street Map of Paris, France (Michelin Streetwise Maps)
REVISED NOV 2017Streetwise Paris Map is a laminated city center travel map of Paris, France. The accordion-fold pocket size travel map has an integrated metro map including lines & stations.Coverage includes:Main Paris Map 1:14,000Paris Metro MapMap of FranceDimensions: 4" x 8.5" folded, 8.5" x 38" unfoldedThere are more clichés about Paris than there are tourists at the Louvre, but the fact is that underneath each overused hackneyed cliché is a glistening kernel of truth. The City of Light, the City of Love and the City of Romance, familiar platitudes, but once you experience it for yourself you understand why. There is a je ne sais quoi allure to this city that beguiles, but never completely reveals what makes it so universally appealing. Artists, poets, writers, and composers have tried to define exactly what it is about this place, and yet they succeed only to a point. Perhaps it is as elusive as defining love, for to be in Paris entails experiencing love, about someone, something, some place. There is so much to do - you know the big ones, the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Sacre Coeur, St. Germain des Pres, the Left Bank, the Right Bank, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées, the Opéra- but don't miss the fun of discovering the small ones, the ones off the beaten path. Nothing like taking your time strolling thru the turn of the century mansion that houses Musée Marmottan then enjoying a café and patisserie in the museums jewel box café. Wandering aimlessly is romantic. Getting lost isn't romantic. In fact there are few things that can drain the romance out of a situation faster than realizing that you're hopelessly lost. So take your travel map and put it away if you want to wander, but have no fear that your wandering will turn into a lost odyssey. You can always pull out the STREETWISE® Paris Map and get yourself pointed back in the right direction. Paris is not without faults. Sometimes people can be rude, but that's the case anywhere in the world - be it a large city or small village. You get what you give. And in the case of Paris, as with any true love, you accept the flaws with the charms, the weaknesses with the strengths. In the end the true beauty of Paris will surpass any blemish. Life from a Parisian perspective is beautiful. But that's another cliché, isn't it? The pocket size map of Paris is laminated for durability and accordion folding for effortless use. To enhance your visit to Paris, pick up a Michelin Green Guide Paris which details sites and attractions using a star-rating system so you can prioritize your trip based on time and interest. For a selection of the best restaurants and hotels, buy the MICHELIN Guide Main Cities in Europe or the MICHELIN Guide Paris & ses environs (French only).

Coverage: Paris City Street Map 1:12,500 Overview Map: 1:90,000 Métro Transit Map Dimensions: 4 x 9 folded, 9 x 36 unfolded, fits into shirt pocket or purse. STREETSMART® PARIS is so legible you will instantly understand how the Champs-Élysées connects with Champs de Mars, Hotel de Ville with Les Halles, Invalides with Ile de la Cité, Marais with Montparnasse, Sacre-Coeur with Sorbonne, and the Louvre with Luxembourg. From God's perspective to the most minute alleys our map will be a treasured companion during your stay. To experience the authentic Parisian spirit indulge in French food on the Left Bank, flaneuring and people-watching in the Latin Quarter along Blvd. St Germain de Pres. Savor the desserts at Café de Flore and/or the cote de Boeuf for two served tableside at bistro Semilla. Every Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., the air on Blvd. Raspail, between the Rue Cherche-Midi and Rue de Rennes, fills with the tantalizing smell of sautéing onions. It is the onion galettes shredded onion, potato and cheese frying at one of the dozens of stands at the Marché Biologique Raspail. Then, turn a corner and new worlds unfold. Paris is unique in many ways: It became a global metropolis starting in 1853 when Emperor Napoleon III commissioned a radical new urban design by Baron Haussmann to reimagine, modernize and rebuild the city by creating the Grands Boulevards. These wide avenues cut through blighted medieval neighborhoods with huge investments in new infrastructure for water, sewerage and power. Paris's early adoption of gaslight street illumination earned it the moniker The City of Light - La Ville-Lumière. Paris is the great city of the Flâneur. He is the aimless stroller who looses himself in the crowd and looks for unexpected experiences and encounters of the aesthetic and erotic kind. Benches on the boulevards are said to be evenly spaced to provide respite to encourage these encounters. The Situationists of the 1950 added psycho-geography, an exploration of urban environments that emphasizes playfulness and "drifting". Our map highlights the Grands Boulevards so you can immerse yourself and engage in Flâneurie. Here are highlights we love: Hiking les Berges, a 1.5 mile stretch river walkway along the Seine from Pont de l'Alma to Musée d'Orsay. Visiting both the Cartier Foundation and the Cartier-Bresson Foundation which are within walking distance on either side of the Montparnasse Cemetery. The former has cutting edge contemporary art while the later specializes in photography. Spending an afternoon getting lost in the Père Lachaise cemetery. Visiting the Fondacion Louis Vuitton in the Bois de Bologne to catch Being Modern: MoMA in Paris. Whatever your excursions our laminated pocket-sized map will make you travel with confidence and create lasting memories. STREETSMART® PARIS includes a Central Paris Street Map which makes you feel you are there with 3D buildings illustrations as your compass. All Métro stops are marked by their respective line in context right on the main map and on a separate Métro Transit overview so you know both the local details and understand the larger system. STREETSMART® PARIS maps are updated twice a year and are the most current.
