Stash Tea Loose Leaf Tea Breakfast In Paris Black 1 Pound Pouch Loose Leaf Premium Black Tea for Use with Tea Infusers Tea Strainers or Teapots, Drink Hot or Iced, Sweetened or Plain
Founded in 1972, Stash Tea Company originally operated out of an old Portland Victorian style house, supplying loose herbal teas and bulk herbs to natural food stores. Starting in 1975, the company broadened its focus to include bagged teas and then began to sell a full line of traditional, specialty blend and herbal teas directly to fine restaurants and through a mail order catalog to consumers. Today, Stash Tea Company is one of the largest specialty tea companies in the United States. The company derives its name from an entertaining aspect of tea folklore. In earlier centuries, tea was a valuable commodity traditionally transported by clipper ship. The ship’s captain often was presented with some of the finest teas for his personal use. This supply was his “stash,” stowed carefully as his “private reserve.” Today, the term is still used to denote anything put away carefully because of its preciousness.

HOT BAGUETTES: The Memoir of a Wacky-Woman's Escape From Her "Empty Nest" in California -- To an Exciting Life in Paris, France
HOT BAGUETTES: The Memoir of a Wacky-Woman's Escape From Her "Empty Nest" in California -- To an Exciting Life in Paris, France
When Erik, my nineteen-year-old son strongly suggested, “Get a life Mom,” I thought he was just hinting to get off the pity-potty and get over it. After all, I was a widow living alone, my daughter was happy in her home, and Erik, a competitive ice skater was “doing his thing,” living and training in Colorado Springs, so why not? I had to face the painful fact that I was redundant – out of work and unneeded. Sound familiar empty nesters? But it didn’t take long to learn that Erik was far more savvy than I had given him credit for. He wanted to see me pursue my painting career, but knowing how thickheaded stubborn I am, he realized as cruel as he sounded, it would take this and maybe more to get my tushy moving! He was right because it worked, and I am forever grateful for those four benevolent words firmly uttered by my caring, prematurely wise son. So, with his advice and encouragement this rapidly aging bird and her miniature dachshund flew the coop via TWA, leaving the tear-soaked “Empty Nest” in the California dust while joyously migrating to Paris, France! I am completely honest when telling of my crazy adventures as an expat in Paris, and believe me, while spending twelve of those years with my wealthy and loving “ fancy-man,” Pierre – I’ve had more than a few! As an artist spending much of my time walking around the city, sitting in cafes, sketching and studying my future subjects, I had an uncanny knack for getting into trouble. For instance, drunks and putes (prostitutes) have accosted me; pickpockets regularly mugged me; and I survived an accident on my motor scooter (a thoughtful gift from Pierre). I also flipped head over heels down a granite stairway, and was mowed down, tossed for a loop by a delivery truck – while standing on the sidewalk! Surviving all this and much more, I still wouldn’t trade my fourteen wonderful, interesting, often challenging years in Paris for anything in the world. It was an experience to say the least! When I face my maker, I would like to know that I’ve “tested the water.” I tried my best by giving it everything I had (without hurting anyone), while stubbornly reaching for many of the fantastic and unusual gifts life has to offer. I’ll just sum it up in the words of Mame: “Life is a Banquet, and most poor bastards are starving to death.” I guess that says it all, and besides, I would much rather be remembered as eccentric -- than boring!

The Paris Baguette
The Paris Baguette
"We were five-year-olds in an adult world without parents to guide us." When Lorelei Friesen and her husband arrived in Paris with their teen daughter in tow, she soon recognized she had bitten off a bit more croissant than she could chew. From the language and the size of their tiny apartment, to the myriad other cultural differences the family faced, it seemed every day overflowed with challenge, discovery, tension and joy. What could Lorelei do with all she was experiencing and feeling? She wrote. In this vivid, humorous, and most engaging journal, Lorelei shares the adventures, mishaps and successes of connecting with France and its people. As much Julia Child's My Life in France as Anne Lamott's Traveling Mercies, Lorelei's years of insights - written as short entries called "Baguettes" - will challenge and delight you into a life lived more fully and authentically. The observant eye, spiritual openness, and brave spirit she maintained until her untimely death will fortify your soul, leaving you richer for having "known" her.

France Sourdough Culture
France Sourdough Culture
The France culture is one of Sourdough International's collection of more than 16 authentic sourdough cultures from around the world. The French sourdough is from a small bakery on the outskirts of Paris that has been in business for over 150 years. The starter rises very well and the dough has one of the mildest sourdough flavors. Refrigerated sourdough cultures become dormant but stay viable for many months requiring feeding only to reactivate them before use. The included instructions describe in detail how to activate, reactivate and use our cultures. Ed Wood's most recent book "Classic Sourdoughs, Revised" contains detailed information for using, maintaining and being successful with sourdough cultures. It also contains a wide range of recipes for our sourdough cultures [except the most recent Polish]. None of our cultures ever use commercial yeast in any form. All of our cultures can be used with any of the available home bread machines if used as Ed does for mixing and kneading only. Most bread machines are unsuitable for baking authentic sourdoughs since they do not have "bake only" cycles and thus do not permit the long fermentation cycles required to produce the sourdough flavor.
